vrelo bosneDuring 2016, Vrelo Bosne and Bijambare were visited by more than 250,000 visitors with paid tickets. Vrelo Bosne was visited by 190,191 visitors, and Bijambare by 63,981 visitors, said Mustafa Zvizdic, senior associate for the promotion and marketing of the Public Institution for protection of natural areas of Canton Sarajevo.

He noted that the biggest number of visits in both areas was recorded in July and August, and the lowest in January and February.

Zvizdic noted that citizens of the Municipality of Ilidza enter for free on Vrelo Bosne, and children up to six years in both areas.

“The middle Bijambare cave was visited by 22,866 tourists in 2016. The biggest numbers were recorded in August – a total of 6,478 visitors. Tourist train services were used by 51 730 visitors. Most of them visited in August – 14,785 visitors,” said Zvizdic.

He noted that the interest of foreign and domestic visitors for protected areas is growing every year.

“Cantonal public institution for the protected natural areas is intensively working on the improvement of tourism and protection of the Bosnian gems,” said Zvizdic.
